I have a UK PSU in a server I want to colocate in USA, it says 230v input on it and no switch to change the input. Do I have to get a different one for USA? Problem is it's in a 2U case and an odd shape so I'm not sure where to get a new one if I need to.

It says PFC on it, does this mean it will accept 115v input?

pop the case lid off and see if it's marked on top of the psu 110-230v - a *lot* of rackmount cases have psu's able to run in either location.

the 1u acme units we use are 110-230 +/- 5%

daft question ... why do you want to "colo" it stateside rather than say rent a dedicated from a provider over there ? just thiuking of the server+shipping costs compared to the current US dedicated market pricing ...

Sorry, I didn't fully read your post before, I thought you meant as apposed to colocating in the UK.
Reason for colo is I just have an otherwise unused server sitting here which I want to make use of and bandwidth is far cheaper over there for the amount it will be using.

bandwidth isn't *that* much different when you're looking at quality providers, I'd guess from your 1500/month uk-us price difference you're getting what 30Mb/s upwards ?

Other than the voltage, also check the frequency range. the UK I think like most of Europe uses 50 Hz instead of 60Hz and you may experience heating problems.
