Colocation + bandwidth

Hello people

I am having trouble with our new datacenter, before we sign any contract with them...this datacenter is in Hong Kong.

Do you think 1/4 Rack with 4mbps overseas guaranteed + 10mbps local (hong kong) guaranteed bandwidth will enough for 30% customers from overseas and 70% from local?

or 5mbps?

Thanks!

This datacenter will be on Hutchison Global Center

There will be a maximum of 3 servers for the first few months
1 server with 60 clients...hosting normal forum...around 300GB/month

second server with 110 clients.....hosting forums as well but and mostly php scripts and is using around 350GB/month only

ok, so with that level of data-transfer you'd be working 3Mb/s hard, presumably they'll be peak times, so 4 or 5 might be needed (mrtg graphing over a few months shoudl help)

so if i was advising you, then i'd say you need a *minimum* 1Mb/s overseas and 3Mb/s local probably a bit more based on your numbers - can you start small and expand at a moments notice or do you have to commit at the outset

i dont doubt your usage will grow to 10mb/s + just wondering if you'd need all that to start with ...

Local bw is just all peering at HKIX.

You may want to look at 66 Mody(I think it's spell that way) street, TST. This is the main building WT & T have fibers directly running into HKIX. With those fibers availability, you'll have the ability to pick up world class carrier such as Global Crossing and UUNET as transit provider for international bw.
