Backup Help

I have a client that backed up some files on his computer using MS mackup for Windows ME. He has since upgraded to Windows XP ... not sure but I assume Home Edition. He now wants to open these backup files but XP's backup won't open them ...

Is there a way around this. I was thinking perhaps some third party program ????

Thanks for your help ... perhaps someone else has experienced this problem and will be able to help.

You may want to try: http://www.windowsbbs.com Im just guessing but win me is Fat 32 and xp is ntsf there could be a conflict with the ntfs format reinstating fat 32 files.

Like I said, you may want to try the above link...

Can you transfer the backup image to a Windows 9x machine, extract it, then move the files to the XP machine?

Defiantpc ..I'll give that forum a try ...as you said it may have something to do with the "file allocation" however other dos type programs still work when transfered from dos/win 9+ to XP.

webworkz yes I probably can transfer them to one of my machine running ME however it would have been far simpler using his machine and software ... the other point is "we shouldn't have to"
