Starting A Hosting Business

Hi, I want to start a Web Hosting Business on my servers!
I don't want to be a reseller or share servers, I want my own servers! But I don't know where to start. I need help, a lot. I know how to design sites I just don't know how to stepup a server. Is there a way I can set up a server on a hard drive? I need help!

Research, Research, Research

1 piece of advise for you if you have limited server admin experience, make sure you pay the extra money and get a fully managed server from a provider you trust....

As stated above and may I also add, get some books on the type server you plan on running. A customer will flame you in every board they find if you do not know what your doing and give them less then stellar support!

Knowledge is key and power to web hosting. A good attitude can really help make your customers very happy with the way you perform your operations. When you work be happy, being grumpy can cause you headaches in the future. Most people do start off as a reseller (heck even I was there ) and gradually move on. If you don't have any clients yet then be prepared to dish out at least $60/month for a dedicated box as opposed to a reseller account for as little as $5 (well at least on these forums ). Also DON'T SELL UNLIMITED SPACE/BANDWIDTH! BIG NO NO in the industry because everything is limited .
