    Ordeal At Nocster

After Waiting 13 Days For my server to be setup I have Given Up waiting and hearing 1-2 day 3-5 days Should Be Done By the end of today out of memory waiting for motherboards (that one I heard 2 times as the server was in the "build" Dept at one time) I sent a Ticket in to cancel it but there are to many tickets being sent in. I HAVE ONLY SENT ONE TICKET TO BURST IN MY LIFETIME AND THIS WAS THE RESPONSE I GOT.

In a message dated 10/20/2003 5:56:02 PM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes:
    Hello,
Your ticket has not been entered into the ticket system due to
more than 20 tickets from your email address, ip, or hostname in
the 24 hours have been submitted.
    Please wait and try again.

Do not reply to this email.

    Thanks,
    BurstNet Technologies Ticket Daemon

So I sent an E-mail in to sales ,Billing,Cust. Service To Cancel it. Guess what I got The Exact Same E-mail Response that I got when I entered the Cancellation in the Ticket Area.

I guess I'll call sales and see if they are able to do anything, Maybe they will tell me 1-2 days and then cancel it in a month

Did they charge your credit card yet? Or will they charge once the server is set up?

I believe they don't charge until they set the server up, but you never know with their billing department

It seems to me that it's pretty known at least to the population here that the servers are out of stock, do you folks who know they are out of stock still order? That's just money in their pocket, why stop selling the out of stock servers if people will still order them? (Think of this from a nocster point of view.)

How is it money in their pocket when you are not charged for the server until it is delivered?

Slow setup times have been happening for months and have not been hidden, they are all over WHT and the Nocster forum. Researching them would show this so it is not a suprise when you experience it.

That being said, I wish they would remove or update the section from their site that states a quick setup time. That would help quell the complaints of slow setup timeframes.

It's money in their pocket as soon as the order is filled, two weeks ago, people were ordering servers, they are being installed and paid for now, in two weeks, they will be making money off of last month's order (however long the delay is)

If the servers/network is great, than it's probably worth the wait, but otherwise, there are options out there, explore

I have Seen this and I called to find out how long it would be. I was told 1/2 days. I will believe what I am told by people/companies until I have reason not to. I now have several reason not to believe in what they tell me.

I wasn't directing that comment at you, however experiences can be very different. If asked, I say 7-9 days based on recent information.

Well try calling BurstNet at 1877-BURSTNET and get this issue resolved immediately. As mentioned earlier by me and many other people here at WHT...BurstNet is a good company with awesome support and quality assured service after you have your server setup but getting the server setup can be frustrating enough since they never have parts for their servers or they always run out on them frequently which is acceptable because they might be getting a lot of orders everyday which I assume

what explains the time differences? are some servers more quickly setup than others? which servers have the quickest setup time? hiya which server did you manage to get in two days?

  22. #22
I would hope that now after strengthening their network and support, they will hire more staff for sales so that these types of stories are a thing of the past.

It's not sales, it's having not enough supplies & build department delays.

I ordered a $59.95 Closeout Server right before they ran out like 2 months ago.

I just called them They said right now It take 24-48 hours for processing then 1-3 days for setup. Hmm... wonder why their website says as little as 6 hours.

Uggh, I got caught in that first halloween sale, took 'em a week to get my server up, and that was only with me calling every day or two to check up on things, and kind of prod 'em a little bit. I don't think that people should have to go that far, but unfortunately it's true.

What takes so long? Parts, all kinds of parts. IIRC, Nocster builds most of their servers, and will (occasionally) run out of parts. I know when mine was waiting, it was waiting on a PS. Since parts are ordered from suppliers everywhere and shipped at various times, well, what happens is that some wait longer than others.

Nocster's VERY well known for parts/server backlogs, sometimes taking weeks to get servers up and running, and when they do, they've been known to set servers up wrong (I know mine had a 9g main drive and a 40g backup , instead of the reverse which was requested).

To be honest I'm quite surprised that people are still rushing to them during these sales, even though they're well knowwn for these delays and problems.

    Heya wolf,

I still remember u posting during their last years sale...

Even when Nocster's site says that servers are available, that isnt any guarantee! U should all know this by now. Also their estimated (or even guaranteed) setup times are worth nothing.

Solution to the problem seems easy to me. Only sell servers that are ready to be plugged in, just like RS does. It isnt that hard imo.

I have to agree with the last 2 posters. Nocster should have learnt by now not to sell stuff they do not physically have. They have been doing it since forever. Absolutely guaranteed to turn your customers against you. Honestly, this is not difficult business logic.

I know why they do it -- because if they were honest and said "we don't have a server XYZ in stock, delivery is expected in 5-10 days" a lot of people would just go somewhere else and they lose the sale. But how many $$$ does it take in staff time dealing with disgruntled customers who they have not been straight with? Quite apart from the ethics.

We took out one of their servers ages ago as a test for our internal (non-customer) use, just cause it was so cheap, and it was of course late being set up. After various issues (like remote reboot port being charged for but never installed -- hey, did anyone ever get one of those babies actually installed??!!) we decided to cut our losses and run. I am so glad we did.

It looks like they have their network improved a lot now they have a new network engineer, but there are still lots of other problems from where I'm sitting.

We have reviewed our policy and site descriptions regarding this issue, and have made the following changes today:

    1) The NOCSTER site now states the following:

How fast are service orders set up?
Virtual hosting account orders placed during normal business day hours may be processed in 1-2 hours. If placed in the middle of a night, setup may not occur until the following day. NOCSTER dedicated servers currently on average take 48-72 hours to set up. This timeframe fluctuates based on current hardware stock and demand. Some servers may be available for instant/same-day set up as advertised. If you ordered a NOCSTER reseller account or dedicated server, you will have the ability to instantly setup accounts by yourself, after the initial setup by BurstNET™.

    2) HTML confirmation pages viewed after placing orders, now more accurately state such setup times.

    3) The vast majority of setup delays in recent times has been for the Xeon systems. There are multiple causes of this, including shipping delays, and configuration issues. We have therefore temporarily suspended all sales of Xeon systems until which time we can work out the logistics of delivery. We expect this to be done within the next few weeks.

    4) BurstNET is currently negotiating with several hardware vendors, and has been for several weeks now. After completion we exect to have same day set up on many servers, including many prebuilt systems. We have negotiated terms with one vendor already earlier this month, and will be releasing the systems later this week!

Good to hear. Might I suggest hat you guys get like a newletter mailing for you resellers. This way you can tell them like when new servers come in or sell out and information like this. I know it would be greatly appreciated by your resellers.

Yes, we are working on that, but it is delayed until next week, as our developer is on vacation this week.

We had to cancel two servers because nocster took a long time to setup and even after that one of the servers setup had an invalid license key on it. Dont get me wrong here...Nocster is an awesome company to work with but they need to tune themselves up a bit...they are pretty rusty but I am sure that if they could fix this one problem about setup then they will be the BEST dedicated server company out there....this is just my opinion

YAY! Hehe, My suggestions come true. I suggested you guys restock these 2 weeks ago and now they are up. Maybe I just got lucky. Then again, I guess I owe it to you considering I call everyday to check on the status of my orders. Maybe thats why mine get up a little faster. Becuase your tired of my bugging you. Now I won't have to bug you as much. I still want that Newsletter. I'll be happy to help you all set it up if you need help or write them.
