Proxy Spammer

Hi there, I had a question. I have had a spammer at my site who has been spaming up my forums serval time. I belive he was a former member at my forums who was banned. He seems to be using proxy's now to get in. Is there a way I would be able to contact the people running the proxy server and have an email sent to me of the person orginal IP? One of the IP's used was 203.113.34.237. I do believe most proxy hosts happen to have a log. Hope someone can help me out. Thanks

I doubt you'd have any luck. Other than law authorities that might be investigating a crime, you'd most likely hit a brick wall in the form of some sort or privacy statement, if they even bothered to reply.

Hopefully the idiot gets bored soon.

I have run into that on several occassions. I had a disgruntled forum user that was banned and he used a script to register 500+ users on the forum in one day. We ended up doing a search on google for proxy lists and banned all known ip's in IIS, which we update daily. It is a pain in the arse, but sometimes it just needs to be done.

We just had one here on WHT in the Domain Names Forum. We all knew who it was, but they were using a different IP out of Sweden, so the mods were hesitant to do anything. Then the person went over to Timechange's www.DomainGator.com and did the same spamming. Timechange tracked down the IP to a proxy server and now the spammer is banned from both forums. But there are just so many...

ya thats the only problem, unless the servers give us a log, we cant do much. Just have to keep banning and hope they get bored. Some people do it as a hobby and that means they have no life
