Changing IP + Redirecting IP
Hello,
I have an issue and wish to discuss, I will be changing IPs due to blocked IPs by an ISP. we assumed
The change ofcourse will be instant but then DNS will takes up to 2 days or 3 days. I am asking is there a way to shorten the time?
Current DNS is
ns1.xxx.com - xxx.xxx.xxx.101 <-- Main IP and shared IP
ns2.xxx.com - xxx.xxx.xxx.102
New IP is
xxx.xxx.xxx.201
Do you think I should ask the datacenter to point xxx.xxx.xxx.101 to xxx.xxx.xxx.201 so for my clients, if their ISP hasn't update the DNS, they are redirected to xxx.xxx.xxx.201 so it will decrease the downtime.
What do you think?
Thanks

If you are just changing IPs, there's no downtime. Just that before it propagates and take effect, some people will still be on the old ips. Just tell your data center to allow you to keep the old set of ips. All would allow you to.
