the 2 best free cms/portals!

ok i know that a lot of people use portal/cms sites, and most of them are using php nuke.. but is php-nuke the best portal on the internet? NO not in my opinion so thats why i am about to help you with my experience in cms/portals
ok here is my list of portals that are really great!

1. Mambo Open Source
mamboportal
mamboserver
Why?
Mambo Open Source is a advanced content management system with a lot of extra components/languages/ and very nice styles!
the administration part is great! you can really change everything! and the setup is easy! it doesn't really look like a portal but has the same features, you can customize it very easily!

1. Land Down Under
ldu
lduworld
Why?
This portal is more created for gaming/clan sites but is very advanced and doesnt look like those default portals same as mambo there are a lot of high quality skins, addons and languages for this portal. this is a bit harder to install.

greets,
markk

Nice one I don't see mentioned very often, however, I'd prefer their licensing to be GPL.

hello,

we re using spip here and we find it much more powerfull than phpnuke (as a cms).
you can find more informwation about it here (unfortunately, it is only in french for the moment): www.spip.org

The good point for me is that it is easy to configure, the layout can be completely changed by hand and it has an integreted cache system so the php pages are not rendered every time the site is accessed.

examples of sites we made running spip :
(hope the forum rules allows me to post it, if not, i m sorry, i ll remove them directly)

look here, it s less portal style :

The point with spip is that you can design it however you like, even if it is mainly use as a portal and then has portal like designs..

yeah... eZ publish is not an ready-to-use product...

it's a php framework dude ^_^

plus, ezp 3.3 which will release this september will be a ready-to-use cms, ez crew have promise it ^_^

I have used alot of cms, they're ezp 2.2, ezp 3 series, mambo, *nuke, typo3... yeah, alot... I'm interested in any CMS out there

But because I'm a PHP coder, I consider eZ publish the best because its framework is very powerful, you can use mambo with available module, but if you want to code your own... it's not as easy as ezp...

just my two cents ^_^

btw, I think I have gone two far from the subject, if it just ready-to-use cms, I think you are right... mambo server is more understandable than ezp

I add my recommendation for mambo server. Skinning is pretty easy and administration is flexible and easy.
