WHT crash???

I couldn't get to WHT for about 30 minutes. Servers die or something? Traceroutes from different web sites couldn't get to it.

Just kind of curious.

There was another thread discussing this (if that's what you'd call it), but I felt one was enough and chose to keep this one and throw the other.

Felix220 posted the above, he seems to know more about it than I do. They don't tell me anything, I just work here. Please continue the discussion in a civil manner.

Well I wouldn't have called it discussion. I'm glad it was thrown.
Back to. . . . . What happened. . . . .
I can't imagine someone getting angry enough at WHT to actually launch an attack.
Is there anyway for the staff to find out why, or better, who???. . . . . so we can all flog the culprit?

Well I didn't mean to say anything out of school Chicken, sorry.. it's just you guys weren't around and I just couldn't believe that this was enough for those other people to carry on like loonies about... so I thought it would keep them quiet.. apparently not..

Being on the same circuit as this place and voxel, we got whacked too, which is why I dropped by..

Apologies again Chicken...

No apologies needed, glad someone knew and posted something! I guess my post read wrong, I was just re-posting the information you stated. When I said, "he seems to know more about it than I do", I simply meant that you knew more than I did (no shocker there). Good info...

I don't know any more than what I've read in this thread, but I don't see anything to indicate that the DDOS attack was specifically targeted at WHT.

It was aimed at webhostingtalk.com.. now you see it..

BTW, in case this degrades at all, reasons and sources are not the issue... although it would be very nice to find out..

Thanks Chicken, np..
