Installing Java 2 SDK problems

This is frustrating me so much.

First of all, for the past 3 months or so, Microsoft's Installer, whenever it tries to install somethign made by MS Installer, the installer mysteriously dissappears in about 10 seconds, whether it's in the middle of installing something or before that. Anyone have any clue what is going on?

As if that wasn't enough of a problem, just today, my computer science teacher gives me a CD with a bunhc of stuff to install so I can use a java compiler (pcGRASP) on my computer. I attempt to install The Java SDK so I can actually use the compiler, and guess what, it's the MS Installer and it dissappears after about 10 seconds of running.

So then I go to SUN's site, download the SDK 1.4 from there, a 80MB file, and attempt to install. Cool, not the MS Installer. But it gives me this error before it installs (attached).

This is so annoying. My computer is really pissing me off. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan
