    Downloading PDFs?

I have a server that is running Apache 1.3.28 on FreeBSD. Whenever I go to download a .pdf file from clicking on a link in an email, it comes up with the open or save prompt, then when I go to save it, it comes up with an error. The only way that I can download the .pdf from the server is if I create a hyperlink in an HTML page.

Can somebody please tell me what I need to change in the Apache config so the file can be downloading by clicking a direct link, and not a hyperlink?

    Thanks in advance.

i dont think thats is controlled by apache.

the only thing you can do with apache is control server side actions (i think).

it all depends really on the user. If the user has acrobat reader installed then in theory, when they click a pdf it will open in the browser.

if they dont have it installed it will download.

dont tihnk you can control that in apache, but not sure

    It says:

Internet Explorer cannot download file.pdf from site.com
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.
