Creating collapsible boxes

Hi,

Does anyone know how to create the collapsible boxes you see on some websites, like http://www.microsoft.com/technet on the right hand side you can expand and collapse the boxes there.

My site is similar to that with the CSS boxes on the right hand side, but I want my visitors to be able to collapse them if they want to, because there are quite a few boxes and it can look a bit cluttered with them all open at once.

Many thanks,
Jonathan.

I've got it, thanks.

A good tutorial for doing it using DOM here:

I think it will only work for IE.
What you found uses javascript so even if a browser supports it, a lot of people turn javascipt off.

You might want to use DHTML, or go with what you found and test it to see if it works with Opera (and other browsers)...

Just my .02 cents

Um, DHTML uses javascript heavily. It is the JS that puts the 'D' in DHTML.

Seeing that 99% of the world uses IE and NS and most users are using at least IE 5 or NS 4, I recommend targeting those browsers for compatibility first. If you test for functionality with those versions and above, you are good to go. Also, the everyday user doesn't even know HOW to turn javascript off. You are fairly safe using JS.

Just my .02.

DHTML - Dynamic HTML.
"Dynamic" as in moving...

isn't the Netscape browser gone?
