    Question Script/ design question

    Hi,

as i'm a total newbie when it comes to scripts, can anybody tell me how the pop-up window on the following site is done?

What i mean is, if you click on one of the template thumbnails, a new window opens but the way it opens really amazes me - the zoom effect so to speak.

    Here is the link:

    http://www.designerwiz.com/free_temp..._templates.htm

Click on any of the template thumbnails and you see what i mean.

I would like to use that effect for my soon to come logo design site to present the logo samples in a new window but as said, no clue what the script code is for that effect.

Any help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Frank

This is all I get when going to that second URL:
These pages make extensive use of frames, client-side image maps, stylesheets and JavaScript.

Please upgrade your browser to be able to read this type of "standard" coding language:

Netscape 6 and Internet Explorer 4+ generation browser is capable of reading this service correctly.

Ah! Well, Duh! on me, really... I did not really read the message I quoted..

I use Opera, and I reckon whatever they're doing with their site is not compatible with it... Though Opera usually does Frames just fine! They're probably doing some Browser checking, and just not even trying unless its one of their approved browsers...

Okay, well I pulled the site up with Phoenix okay... And they're using Lamer Right-Click Disabled stuff, which peeved me enough to press the matter... I ultimately got their scripts okay (via wgets), but am hesitant to post 'em here, as that would be rather unethical...

But basically, they have a series of JavaScripts (GrowFromCenter being the main workhorse) which, when passed a few params, creates a new window, and takes it through a series of resizes to a size stated by one of the params...

Personally, I do not care for the effect really... And all the code adds tons to the size of their pages!

its not that great of an effect.

This is how I think they did it:

    1. You click on the link.
    2. Small pop-up opens.
    3. Small pop-up closes.
    4. Bigger pop-up opens.
    5. Bigger pop-up closes.
    6. Do steps 4,5 until you get a pop-up with the size you want.

I wouldn't waste time with it, if I were you...

Actually, (Thank goodness!) they do not close and pop a new window... They're running some math, and resizing an existing window a series of times...

    I was just guessing
I didn't check like you, and you posted while I was posting so I didn't know...

I understand, and saw that we more or less overlapped... I was really commenting on how they are, at least, NOT poping new windows with their antics...

I certainly do agree with you, WebsterWorld, that the effect isn't worth the time (and expense) of implementaion. Not to mention, its probably these scripts that make it necessary to limit their browsers to IE and NN...

Thanks for the hints anyway - i really like that effect but if it's the case it would add too much weight to my site then i'll better pass i guess.

Would still be interested what the code is (so i could c&p it).

Remember that it will only work for IE...
    Pass this one up...
