background check

Hey all,

I recently had a background check for this new company doing sales. I havent done anything too bad, i do have a Larceny 6th degree from 4 years ago. (I got caught stealing in Sears-I kno i kno, im a jackass). Will this hinder me from getting the job, or do these companies care only if i have a felony or some mess like that? Its been a week. Im nervous, i want this job. Talked to the guy who interviewed me 2 days ago. He said, sit tight, reslts not back yet. My drug test was all good, now its the background??????anyone know anything

Well... If your going to be doing sales... And you will be handling physical items.. Do you think they'd want someone with a past history of theft?

It could screw you over.. But.. When did it happen? Before you were 18? Are you still under 18?

and that would really suck. I got caught stealing $30.00 clippers at Sears as a result of hazing. That would REALLY suck!!!

It depends alot on the employer and the person making the desicion.

If you filled out anykind of application form there would normally be a section to declare any past convictions, if you were honest on there then they may well overlook it.

But if you didn't declare it when asked, then it was discovered in a background check you probally don't have much chance.

Good luck anyway, we all do stupid stuff at times, hopefully they will overlook it and give you the job

ct2tx, I assume you haven't done anything similar since?
You should apply for a pardon, even if you do get this job. It will get is removed from your permanent record.
I'm not sure who you apply through in the US but in Canada you would make the application through the police dept.
