Dual AMD 2400MP Setup... PSU?

I'm gonna buy a cheap case that comes with those generic 300W PSUs. Should I buy a better PSU to go along?

2x2400MP
1gb ram
120gb ide
cd-rom drive
floppydrive

More wattage? Better quality? I was happy with generic psus until my home comp's psu burnt out. I think it was because of the power outage.

Thanks for the advice.

I second the Sparkle (and newegg). My $80 enermax blew out a month ago and I replaced it with a $33 Sparkle 300W and it's working great. I really liked my Enermax, but for the price, it just wasn't worth it to buy another one.

I'm a fan of the thermaltake 420W - 460W power supplies. The skyhawk 2025IPC chassis are cheap, and work well, and will take a standard power supply with minimal modificationl. Your worst enemy will likely be heat in this case. PCI blowers, and Vantec Tornado chassis fans (80mm) are excellent solutions though to keep your equipment running cool.

Newegg doesn't ship to Canada. I'm looking at this store:

http://canadacomputers.com/power.html

What are your recommendations?

I'm Canadian too,

They will if you write them a money order, but I've found them to be extremely unaccomodating. We switched stuff over to www.accupc.com, www.coolerexpress.com (at first they wouldn't take our credit card as it's obviously Canadian, but did accept a PayPal and shipped to our [un-registered] US address, and www.knowledgemicro.com.

If you plan to do it somewhat regularly, get a US address somewhere like the edge of NY (eg. Niagara Falls), and simply have them re-route packages up to you, or go get them, and then add that as a secondary ship to address on your credit card. I'd recommend the UPS store for this, real address, no po boxes, and friendly staff (at least at the one we use).

450 watt at least.

You can get by on 350watt but those AMDS do draw some power!

In canada, I use http://www.ncix.com/ almost exclusively. Their prices are the best I can find, and I have done at least a dozen orders, without any problems.

I'm running a dual MP2200 with 2GB Ram and 2 harddrives on a 460W PSU.

The PSU costed me 80 euros excluding 19% VAT, but it seems to do its job very well I think

One thing, I wouldn't put a dual cpu in a 350W PSU, use at least a 400W (for a Xeon or Athlon MP)

Personally I prefer PC Power & Cooling. Have never had a problem, although they do cost a bit more.

I went the cheap route and bought a 300W psu. Boy am I regretting it now. The system reboots randomly. I'm gonna have to get a much bigger one, like 450W (that's what my manufacturer said).

Thats not too surprising considering the CPU's are rated at using around ~155W apiece last I remember checking (Had a site awhile back that showed the wattage rating of many PC components, wish i'd bookmarked it).

I'm running dual AMD AthlonMP 2400+, 2 scsi drives, 1 ide drive... The motherboard manual I have says 400Watts is minimum for a dual AMD setup. I've been using an Antec 420, and have had no problems for almost a year now.

It's a great pair of cpu's btw, they really scream!
