I had no idea where to place this thread, so I figured this was as good a place as any.

I recently got a leased MB licence in the Isabel special. I've got it installed, but still needs a lot of configuring.

I was just wondering if domains registered with Enom through Modernbill can be administered by the client through their billing panel. Can they use Modernbill to update nameservers etc.? If this isn't possible, how have you taken care of this issue? Do you use another piece of software in combination with MB for domain name registrations.

Also, is it possible to edit the order process/templates in such a way that users do not get the option to register a domain, but only hosting packages and enter the domain to be used.

I could have searched/posted on the MB forums, but I was just too lazy to go and log in there

I could be way off base but here goes anyway...

I have MB, and the MB/eNom Reseller's account... I offer Domain Registration through my site... To date, I've not had to cross the bridge of Domain Owners wanting to update/move the domains they've registered through me, but I have seen discussion in this regard. I believe the preferred solution is to set up a subaccount under your eNom account, and move the Domain there, and provide that subaccount information to the domain owner. In that way, they can use the eNom Control Panel to do whatever they like with their domain...

To the other question, in regards to setting up MB to not offer Domain Registration; Yes, I'm sure you can, though I have not tried... But why would you want to do this anyway? The eNom Reseller's Aco**** is free, and you can make a nice profit off each domain registered through you by charging $15 a pop. If the client doesn't want to pay that, they can always go off and register it on their own elsewhere, and then come back to sign up for hosting...

What we do is this:

We have modernbill and drams syttem (Dramsystems.com). When a customer wants to manage their domain, we go ahead and give them access to their domain through drams and they can do everything they want.

Hmmm, I suppose I could handle all the domain updating through the ticket system and do it for them.

Suppose I also could set up a register rocket account and give clients that DEMAND the ability to admin the URL access through that.

I did actually look at DRAMS and was thinking of just splitting the 2: URL registration on one site and hosting on another, but of course that would raise the costs (2 SSL certificates, 2 helpdesks, ...).

This issue deserves a little more thought. Maybe it's time to go and suggest full URL administration via MB to the MB programmers
