How can I configure the system to send me an email whenever a user logons to his shell (SSH) account?
1) Use something like logcheck to scan your syslog files every couple of minutes and email you things like when someone logs in.
2) Use /etc/hosts.allow to have tcp_wrapper execute a script to log/email you connection information when it happens.
If you use the Bourne shell (sh) or any of the compatibles (bash,ksh,ash,etc) look at /etc/profiles it get's executed (usually) when a user logs in, you can put a call to a script in there that gives you an email.
