Hello,
I need some good Colo-providers. I am looking around for a customer of mine for colocation services, and servers(I already found what I need there).
He came to me to ask for around a 1 Gbps Connection. I have been looking around, I got a quote from HE, Verio has yet to send me a price sheet, Level3 has quoted me for BW at about $120/Mbps
So, anyone know of anywhere else? If possible, could you also post their prices?
Thanks,
Dan

XO, but I don't know their prices for Gbps.
Wow, I might say that's a fairly large commit to see a request for. I'm used to seeing people ask for a simple Mbps.

lol. It is a very large company I am looking around for. They work with people like Nintendo, etc.
I was asked to look around for 1Gbps, so...

MFN, only problem is their network is a bit oversubscribe.
UUNET, ATT, Sprint if they can pay for it
Cogent, if you want cheap stuff.

about how much bandwidth will you actually do? Level3 has offered $75 / meg before on commits around 100 megs. If you getting a full gig-e you should be getting under 120 /meg from level3.
If your looking for a good price try allegiance. For good quality try internap or at&t.

Dan,
I have some good contacts both within Verio and XO that can get you very very nice pricing for quality connections. I don't feel comfortable directly relaying gigabit pricing tiers publicly, but if you send me your contact details I can have reps contact you directly from XO and Verio. You might be surprized as the last person was quoted half of what they got when requesting directly from the wrong sales rep.
Also, your information stays between me, you, and their direct sales reps.

dan,
if they are looking for quality, but do not want to pay for the marquee value of internap and want an excellent carrier with excellent pricing, i would suggest looking into peer1. we have been very happy both with their service and our rep. feel free to contact me off the board for contacts there.

Might want to keep an eye on it. The over all network has been better at FDC and the "XO" should be very good.
Of course the "I bash FDC fan club" will disagree.

Though I didnt visit the DC, i did hear about XO being turned on today at FDC, great news.
Hopefully everything will work out good

Where exactly did you draw the conclusion that MFN's network was oversubscribed?

At any rate, large company or not these guys aren't going to make a 1Gbps commitment.
They've probably got a GIG-E NIC and don't know any better.

agreed. 1 gbps is a hell of a lot. and, no offense, if they needed the full gig, they wouldnt be asking you to find them a deal.

Actually,
The one tech of mine is a good, good friend with the owner. I was told they were pushing 900 Megs + constantly. I have a feeling they may be paying too much as it is now, or they might just want a change.
I will get the tech to respond. Give him a few hours, he is busy.

When someon asks for information - there is no point in saying "you probably dont need that" - or anything similiar.
cbtrussell - is there something you know that we dont? Im guessing not - you just wanted to say something "elitist" so that we may bowdown to your superior knowledge. If i was asking for GBit commit pricing - i would be offended by your last comment.(save your reply - theres nothing to discuss)
Sheps - if they are doing 900Megs+ constantly - they would probably want to get 2xGbit connections. That doesnt mean you have to pay for 2Gbit - probably just extra setup fee for the additional port.
I have seen HE do very good pricing on large commit rates ($20/mbit) - im not sure how good there bandwidth is - but from browsing the boards i get a good impression! I believe they have just got connected to LINX as well - which is great for us brits!
As for your quote from Level3 - it seems a bit high - im sure ive seen level3 around $70 for a Gbit commit!

they will want two gige handoffs anyway, since running such a large network on a single point of failure is not the best idea. HE leased a couple lines, but they arent connected to linx yet. as for their quality, i will withhold my comments for now, although it should be reasonably obvious what they are doing.
