Anyone know of any other shareware software like QuickBooks 2000 Pro that is very new and nice? Any freeware ones as well? Something for a hosting company.

Good question!!
I'd like to know this one too. Got a copy of Quickbooks on the front of a computer mag CD a few weeks ago, and it got me thinking I should start looking at some 'real' accounting. It seems a little to involved for what I need so if there's a freeware accounting system that someone like use could be perfectly happy with that you know of, post a reply.
You know, just something for adding accounts, reoccuring bills, one time fees for design etc...

Carlos,
I am looking at implementing a different accounting system. Does QB 2000 Pro actually send e-mails automatically and work with the merchant accounts to process credit card payments? I don't have any idea of its abilities. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Angela

Angela ..
I don't use it, but I believe that QB 2K can make use of Quickbooks mechant account to indeed process CC payments and other merchant features, but since I don't use it I would contact QK for more info
cheers

I currently use Quickbooks Pro 2000 but I have been unable to figure out how to email bills to my customers, has anyone figured out if this can be done and how to do it?

With QB2K Pro, the only way to email invoices is to have them print to a .pdf file then email. Not very convenient. I have heard of a few "patches" but I still have not found any.
Also, as a former QB merchant account user, I can say that it is a little cumbersome to use their merchant account feature, although it does interact nicely within QB. All payments can be posted to the customer account, but they have to be entered manually, through Signio (now Verisign).

You might want to check out FF Billing Software. I haven't used it but it looks promising.

alchiba - does it interface with a merchant account or just handle organization of client information? I could not find credit card references when I visited their site.
Thanks.

It doesn't interface to a merchant account, but it seems to do everything else. My favorite feature is it can do automatic repeat billing and email the invoices. That's nice, cuz much of my business is not by credit card.
