Hi,

I need a bit of your help to tell me what you think of a layout I just made. I am not at all a professional of web design. I'm just a student of a flight school trying to redesign their web site which is presently really bad . That's why I inspired myself from several other websites I like and made a kind of mix.

At this page (http://flightschool.aircom.org/) you can see a static image of what I plan. I am sorry, it is in french, so you won't be able to read it, but anyway only the layout has to be commented on.

Do you have any critic, advice, comment on it ?

Nice site, very clean and simple. Maybe too simple. Try to add some more graphics or colors. Good job.

Concerning the colors, since I wanted a blue based layout, I have no idea where I could add a touch of color to cheer up the site...

Good layout keeping simple and down to the point is what is needed sometimes. Good choice of colors and distribution of the images. Maybe you could add a little more text to the sight so you could populate it just a little more but "dont" crowd it up to much.

What do you mean by "a little more text to the sight". Is it "to the side" ? This may be my english skills here ...

Another question for this site: since I'm not in the business, I don't know how I could trade this design with my flight school, ie how much I could sell it if I had to sell it (in fact I would like to trade it against flight hours, but of course at a fraction of the price of the real site).
So basically it would be a template like the one I show, plus several pages for the content based on the left menu. Plus I will install and use pmachine for the dynamic update of the site (news + static sections).

It is nice for what it is, but it isn't in my taste.

Nice either way, although the upper-right image isn't appealing, and the logo somewhat unclean, not smooth at all.

Thanks ionsurge. Concerning the logo, it it theirs and I can't change it. And of course I made a rough screenshot and resize of it for the purpose of my sample. It is better in real life (but not my taste also)

I like it a lot, very nice. Many times when I build a site, I make 7 or 8 revisions before I'm happy and everything falls into place.

well it suites what you need as an aircraft site but would need a new logo the only thing that lets it down as a whole!

But please please, nobody answered on the value (money) of the site. How can I trade it against flight time ? I should know what price a medium web designer would use to sell it.

Its very nice, and you should ask the flight school how much its worth for them, but bettwen us, in my opinion at least, its no more then 100$ worth.

Comment : I agree with others It looks very nice.
Your question : I think it depends on your work. I mean the time you spent on it , the value in your mind etc.

I really think that it depends on the designer. I would go for about $300 (IMHO) but it may worth much more/less.
