Level3 has a colo in Southfield. Their staff was totally incompetent when we left them, but that was awhile ago. They've probably improved.

There is an independent colo in the Galleria office center (also Southfield), but I don't know much about them.

Verio had a small colo in Livonia. I haven't checked up on them in years, though.

Really, I found the offerings rather disappointing for such a populated area, but we also move a lot more traffic than most. (Back at Verio in '99 or so, our prime time would black out huge chunks of their midwest network.) We wound up moving operations to Jersey and Chicago.

XO also has a presence in Livonia but they are $$$$

Provide.net also offers colo in Ypsilanti, though when I was originally given some pricing a few years ago it wasn't all that enticing.

isnt there a switch and data in detroit? there must be, as ive heard of it, and some cheap verio bw there too as its a tier 2 market.

Yeah, the S&D facility is in Southfield. Been there twice.

We're with www.sittech.com at that facility.

I'm very happy with the Switch and Data facility here. Its labeled Detroit, but just outside in Southfield.

Glad to hear it, I was thinking about you guys all night. I felt sorry leaving you there with a dead raid 5, but thats why you have a cabinet on the floor and not in the cage

are you a reseller for the S&D data center? or how does that work? Do other people sell co-location services that are in that same datacenter?

also, your site says you have resellers as well. any chance they offer cheaper rates than going directly through you ;-) well, you probably wouldn't tell me that anyway. but figured id press my luck!

I buy space, and then break it up into smaller units. S&D doesn't offer per U service, or managment.

You might find someone willing to sell one or two U, but nothing as large as we talked about today. Also, then your at their mercy, so make sure you find someone you can trust! Things will always come up, and when it does you need access or support right then, not next week.

You could try S&D direct. They start at 1/2 cabinet and up, no per U space. You wont get any service with it, so if a machine dies at 2am your SOL. Also, I think you will find our prices line up pretty close. I don't really make money off space, and have to be carefull not to lose on power. It's expencive because of the facility, not because im lining my pockets
