Colo location in West Michigan

I'm exploring running my own server instead of reselling due to my experiance as a network engineer. Can anyone reccomend a location in West Michigan in which I could host my server with reasonable amount of bandwidth? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I'm not sure how far west you are looking for, but I know affordablehost.com is in Grand Rapids. I know very little about them except for their existance.

There is also another VERY big provider in that area, though I can't seem to recall the name right now... I'll post if it comes to me.

I'm in irc with them right now. Very quick with the answers and if they don't know, (well at least stephanie) will find the answer quickly. Thanks for the suggestion, I will be investigating them further. Is $50 for 25gb bandwidth with my server a good price?

The other large provider in Western Michigan might be iserv.net They are fairly large, though quite expensive.

For colocation that is about right (assuming you are leasing 1U of space, if your server is larger than 1U then it is pretty cheap).

Just got done talking to Tina and Dave(admin), they seem like great people. *off I go to do more research*

Oh yeahhhhhh. We took a tour of their facility before we actually chose our current location. We were going to rent a suite down there. By 'down there'...I mean in the old abandoned gypsum mines. It was so neat, literally miles of tunnels...and then all of a sudden all the latest technology, right in a portion of the mine.

Anyway, they just went out of business (as heard from former employees as well as several ex-customers). We're getting alot of their refugees contacting us, which is good. But, imagine their disappointment when I have to tell them we don't have the 'coolness' factor of the mine. Just our office, with racks of servers...and Dave.

Really -- I didn't know that. Do you have a news article or anything that discusses their closing, it would be a great companion to an article that I am working on.

No, but we hired one of their out-of-work admins last week.

I remember exchanging a few emails with you when you were interested in getting a rack there, and we were too.

Yeah, I can't find one shred of news on the internet about it though. I wish tomorrow wasn't Saturday...I'd be able to get more details if it weren't the weekend!
