using flash on a host
might be the wrong forum to ask on. but I was wondering... I am about to sign up with hosting by "Aplus.net" I have read and heard it is a good host. But i cannot seem to find out if I can use a flash site on my account. I mean I am buying a account with 200 mb's and unlimited bandwidth for a 2 mb flash site, lol. I am also putting a regular html site on thier as well for dialup users. But the flash is the main index.html
so basically does anyone know of aplus.net and/or does anyone think it wouldn't offer this. I mean for $120 a year i would think so. I have free angelfire now and they allow me to run flash.
any help would be great.

I wonder what the cap for aplus is, or where they get there bandwith from.
The answer to your question is yes you will most likely be able to use flash on your web site. Most hosts allow it ( i dont see why not)

Unlimited bandwidth doesn't exist:

But I don't think that any host should have a problem with flash. Some have things against download files, however flash isn't really in the same league.

thedavid is right i read an article about it in dotnet magazine in the uk. It says something that if you use more than you are repected to which is alll mentioned in there terms and conditions then they will block your account until you give them more money or your bandwidth comes clear again.
As for your host isnt $120 a bit to expensive? for only 200mb?! I pay $15 a year for 100 MB and "Unlimited bandwidth" i think it was but there cap is high and it was a good offer they also offer unlimited SQL tables, scripts and loads of other stuff.
If you want cheap hosting go to www.jv-hosting.net (Im not connected to them in anyway)

It seems like I read somewhere that there were potential security risks with some flash files but this hasn't become widespread enough to be an issue yet. And I don't recall if it was a server or client side issue off the top of my head.

/me zips his lips....
There are a number of bugs with the Flash Player, but it's nothing you wouldn't find from anything else (say, your browser for example). The problem is most users don't think to upgrade their flash player until told to do so..and even then it's a hard push. They often think, "I've already got Flash, I don't need it again." *sigh*
Anyhow, Macromedia security updates à la mode -

The security risks involved with Flash are no different than those involved with Javascript, HTML, DHTML, and server side coding.
I don't see why any host would disallow the use of flash, unless you're streaming audio with it, etc.. However, that is on a per use basis.
