I just realized (and can't see mention of it elsewhere?) that ServerMatrix just came out with a $79 server. 1.4 GHz Celeron, but otherwise the same as the 'SuperCeleron'.
It's not quad Itanium, but it seems like quite a steal. $99/month with CPanel. Giving RackShack a run for the money?

Maybe, maybe not. This could be an older P3 Celeron instead of the P4 which could mean a performance issue if loaded since it's not mentioned which it is.

Yeah. They could have had some old p3 celerons lying around somewhere. By offering it, my guess is that they didnt want to throw away such stuff that still could be used by customers for not so processor intensive applications and also to make some extra cash.

You are correct. I think Melissa ment the 1.7Ghz is a newer version. The 1.4Ghz Celeron is an older version (classified as a PIII)
Thank You

Big difference between P4 / P3 Celeron 1.4GHz?

Unless the cache is severly less then the p4 celerons wouldn't it be better to have the p3 versions?
P3>then a P4 at the same clock rate.

It's more than cache. I believe the P3's had a lower FSB, guessing somewhere around 200-266MHZ? about 1/2 of the P4? This is in addition to any cache differences. These differences are why the P4's were notably faster than the older Celerons.

The majority of the later PIIIs have a 133MHz FSB... remember that AMD was the first to introduce a double-pumped bus. Intel was still in the dark.
Pentium III = 100/133MHz
Celeron (PIII) = 66/100MHz
Celeron (P4) = 200/400MHz
Pentium 4 = 400/533/800MHz
