    KnownHost VPS alternative (Plesk)

I am on KnownHost with Plesk (30 domains). I am generally very happy with their support.

With time, their support on Plesk is diminishing.

I need to move to other VPS provider with Plesk (unlimited domains) with comparable support.

    Please recommend VPS provider.

I am not interested in cPanel, so please let us not start "Why not cPanel" :-)

    Thanks,

Support for 3rd party software is naturally limited. Why don't you ask Plesk for support?

    Hello Novaphp,

What is your price range for this? This will be of help to identify possible alternative solutions.

A great starting point here is the Plesk partner directory. You can filter it by region and partner type (e.g. managed service provider). Just keep in mind that "managed" means something different at every provider, so when comparing you're going to want to talk to each provider to understand exactly what they do and don't do for your money.

Though it is very much a personal preference. But, my case I have following reasons:

    a) I am using Plesk ever since it conceived
    b) Interface is domain-wise (unlike cPanel in resource-wise)

Means one selects a domain (obviously after creation first) and then everything is in that container/domain/space, whether you are configuring FTP, Emails or MySQL. You click PHPMyAdmin and you open the same for that domain.

Showing domain-wise resources is very clean and easy to manage.

cPanel goes resource-wise. One has to find (search - multiple clicks and memorizing where is what) domain/site and related services. Confusing [for me] but not necessarily who are use this interface.

Downside, Plesk after selling to VCs jacked up their price without any rationale, and didn't care market-share keeping or loosing. Unfortunately their eyes did not open despite loosing market-share against cPanel. Good for cPanel. On other-hand cPanel is so fixated in their UI, more enjoying the free ride what Plesk gave them and did not put efforts to at least learn and implement best from other Control Panel to further solidify their position in absolute terms. Sometime success goes in brain and close many other creative apartments.

I have used both cPanel and Plesk. Like the OP, I prefer Plesk.

My reason is simple. With cPanel, one account has access to all domains. They can create email addresses in any of the domains, for example. With Plesk, you can create accounts that are restricted to specific domains. I like that.

Since Plesk and cPanel are both owned by the same company, I wonder now if there will be immediate price increases for Plesk in the short term?

We're expecting Plesk to get overloaded with users on their last Unlimited license left (remember the older price hikes?), and then either cPanel will get killed off and Plesk will switch to cPanel per-seat pricing, or Plesk will degrade even further, less updates, more people will be forced back onto cPanel.

One brand name has to go.

DA is a much better option, being cheaper.

But, when open phpMyAdmin, I have to enter Login/Password (unlike in Plesk).....that is very very painful to remember (look some where) to run phpMyAdmin. Otherwise, I was sold to DA :-(

Wanted to use Hostnexus, but they believe in siesta, when it comes to support, in comparison to KnownHost.

I'd stick with Knownhost. The grass isn't always greener on another provider.

As I said originally, KnownHost has no desire to support Plesk. I checked again, assuming after cPanel price increase they might have changed their position for Plesk, still no change.

I am still in market looking for Plesk VPS with comparable support.

On the contrary, our support team has been 24/7 for 18 years. And no-one knows Plesk like us. We are the original Plesk Web Host.

Agree, you are oldest when comes to Plesk.

You have always been honest to your customers.

    You are approachable when needed.

A few tech were very supportive and helpful.

Have all good to say about HN.

However, I would still give 10 to KH on their support response "time" based on my experience in all honesty.

HN would be my choice, as of now, if I choose to continue with Plesk.

    Will PM you offline.
