Jiffynet.net ignoring abuse reports

I'm posting this here in the hope that either somebody from jiffynet.net uses this board and reads it, or that if somebody knows of a user here from jiffynet then can let me know so i can PM them.

several emails have been sent to abuse@ and support@ in regards to a hosted website that's infringing several copyrights on some scripts they are running.

So far, all have been ignored.

If you know any users on this board please say, so i can give them another chance to respond via PM.

thanks

Don't send emails, have a lawyer send a registered letter with a Cease&Desist order in it. THEN if they don't act get ready to sue.

If you're not serious enough about the copyrights of (your?) scripts to take these steps then give it up, many hosts are gonna ignore simple emails about this sort of thing.

Do exactly what Dixiesys said, that will be your best bet mate. Many hosts just dont care and won't do anything if they think nothing will happen. I am sure with a letter from a lawyer, it would be taken down pretty fast

Also, if I had a dollar for every bogus (well maybe not bogus but "not serious") email like that I'd have quite a stack of dollars. Also I can't just go yanking down sites because of an anonymous (there's no easy way to verify email validity) email. But a C&D via certified mail WILL suffice

We always reply to these types of emails (unless the infringement is just stupid then we yank without a C&D) with a request to send us a certified letter from an attorney on attorney letterhead, that way if the client raises a ruckus we just show him the letter and are like "look we aren't your baby sitter and we ain't making enough off you to risk a court case of ANY type".

Good points, I have received many of these "take this down or else emails" from people who don't hold copyrights and sometimes don't even have anything to do with the material they accuse of being copyrighted.

Once a host realizes that you truly hold the copyrights and are serious, they will work with you. However completely ignoring the emails was not a good idea.

I got a reply a few hours after i posted this.

Their reason for not responding at first was that they were affected by the power outage.

But, they suspended the clients account untill he corrected things, one script was removed the other had the copyrights put back as required.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt regarding "email problems" because they were actually polite and helpful and got it resolved quickly, once they acknowledged it.
