BREAKING NEWS: Northeast US & Canada With No Power
Tune in CNN
My God, people are stuck in subways (there are hundreds of thousands of them there) in tunnels with no lights, no air conditioning, no air supply...
Also, I'm not really clear as to how on Earth one power plant (Niagara) can cause this massive outgage? Is it treally the one supplying power to all those huge cities? Doesn't make any sense.Last edited by Artashes; 08-14-2003 at 05:14 PM.

The plant is on fire, which measns they won't fix it quickly.
Airports are out.
I wonder how long NY hosts can hold like this.Last edited by Artashes; 08-14-2003 at 04:44 PM.

Clevelend, New York, Ottawa, Toronto... to name a few! Wow.
Hope its not a terrorist act. How can a power plant ever catch fire with so many protective shields and systems it has?

You are too slow. Why not reading other threads about it before posting ANOTHER one?

I am referring to the plant on fire. ONE plant OBVIOUSLY doesn't power all those cities, leave alone NY only.

Niagra got overloaded, killed all the powergrids close to it. ConEd Power plant shut down automatically to not get killed, its NOT on fire. They can't start it up again or it WILL get killed. It'll take some time though. until then, use a generator.

CNN said a transformer was on fire in Manhattan. That's probably where the fire aspect came from.
I thank my Lord for all His wonderful blessings.

Not much yet, but it explains the fire part:
"A Con Edison transformer on East 14th Street in Manhattan was afire, CNN learned."
