rackshack support

needed a manual reboot for one of my servers in rackshack, so naturally I went to the chat to ask for it.

> me: pls reboot my server ip blah.blah.blah.blah
> tech: ok, will be done within the hour
> me: can you call someone in the NOC to reboot it? its urgent
> tech: the colo is xx miles away and there's no one there now
> me: ??

a couple of hours later

> me: pls reboot my server ip blah.blah.blah.blah
> another tech: it will done in a few hours when someone gets to the colo
>me: !!

I know they are priced very competitively, but considering the number of servers they must have at the NOC, shouldn't there be at least a tech stationed there 24/7?

I had that whole conversation with rs once about them not having true 24/7 monitoring... They're like we do, but in a different way... Thats one reason why I didn't like them...

From my own experience it's much faster to shoot of a support ticket requesting a reboot. "Reboot of Server" is also one of the choices in the form

Good luck doing that when your server has gone down/crashed/is no longer accessible via the Internet.
