Just wondering if this program slows down the PC?

I use it occasionally. It slows down the PC less than running Aim, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ all at the same time.
Really though, the impact on the local machine is minimal, although you have to recind some of the advanced features of each respective chat software.

It did for me though I assume this computer's a rare case. A few days ago I installed it, and ran it. The desktop slowed to a crawl as soon as I opened Outlook Express. I eventually got it to shut down, and uninstalled Trillian. Instantly the slow grind went away, and everything was back to normal.
I have a bit of an odd setup on this thing to squeeze some extra power out of it so it may have just choked on a missing service or some-such.

I use it and now im thinking maybe its the cause of my computer crashing....
Done a format about a week ago and it was working fine until....i installed a few programs, triallian was one of the program i installed.
It was working fine for a day after the format (norma crashes every 30 mins or so) but it started again.
Cant remember if it started after or before installing trillian but maybe i will do uninstall to check it out

Thanks for feedback. I guess I'll be delaying installing the program.

No difference in performance with it running... it's probably just the computers with lesser power and memory that are struggling.

I use the Pro version, and I think it rocks.

We had nothing but problems with Trillian. We're running Gain now, and it's quite good.

1.2 Ghz with 512 Ram. Not a sports car but more than enough not to choke on a messenger

What I really miss is Ericsson iPulse, I loved that little but powerful and super-duper fast IM...

For those of you using Outlook or Outlook Express and Trillian and get slow performance, you can try one thing that worked for me.
Outlook Express:
Tools - Options - General Tab
Uncheck "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger"
Outlook:
Tools - Options - Other Tab
Uncheck "Enable Instant Messaging in Microsoft Outlook"
Don't know if it will work for you, but fixed my performance problems.

Trillian Pro 2.0 will be much better than 1.0 is now. It'll have 'real' tabs and such. If you want to use it, I would suggest waiting for it, or signing up now and hoping it comes out within a year.
