Yes it is very normal for colo providers to require the customer (that being you) provide the PDU. Colo providers have no idea what your requirements/preferences are, i.e., managed PDUs, 0U/1U/Metered, DUAL PSU, ATS etc..

When you colo, you're essentially responsible for supplying everything within a raw rack. For example, your server + rails if applicable, power & network cables, rack-mountable switch(s) and PDU(s). Additionally, you're responsible for maintaining inventory, including PDU(s), providers aren't going to take that responsibility unless you're paying an increased amount -- colo margins are slim, to begin with. That's not to say; colo providers aren't fair or unwilling to sell you hardware on demand in the event of an emergency as most provide IaaS themselves. So it's something to prepare for and consider.

What type of power are you opting for? A+B? And what kind of rackspace are you committing to? 1/4, Half or Full? This will help everyone out so they can provide their opinions.

Some colo providers can recommend you or they can even provide. You need to ask them.

I have nevwr had to provide my own PDUs excepy when doing private rack/cabinet. Whenever I did 1/2/5/10U in a shared cabinet, PDUs were provided by the colo.

When going private cabinet for the first time, I got specs from the colo, chose what I wanted, and verified my selection with the colos engineering team to make sure it was a good fit.

I second Net, asking the provider can be your best option as there are different types of PDUs as well as connectors (regular, twist lock..) that would be preferred and recommended by this particular colo.
