TurnkeyInternet [issue with neglected account]
Hello, I have purchased a TurnkeyInternet VPS on the occasion of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
But I have not used it since then. Today, I tried to login into my server but I was shocked to know that I wasn't able to login and I had to change the Password of my server since the old password wasn't working.
I then logged in after changing the password and I was so much shocked when I opened the Chrome that there were multiple websites which I have never even heard off opened.

There were manual activity on such websites multiple times.
Screenshot 2: https://image.prntscr.com/image/FZZ1...84fnDnuu7g.png
Screenshot 3: https://image.prntscr.com/image/LzcE...QaaX_8KlKQ.png
On Firefox, I have noticed that someone has logged into three different Yahoo Accounts as well.
I would recommend you to stay away from this host since they are selling for cheap but it isn't a quality company nor they care about the customer.
Someone on the other forum already warned me but that was about the wrong RAM or hardware information.
But what I have experienced is just way more than the RAM issues. It's alot about your personal security.
CEO of TurnkeyInternet: I'm very much sad from your service. I tried talking to your support but they weren't really helpful.
Either refund me or let this thread be here. Since, I'm doing something really good for the people to keep them away from your company which is following such practices.
There are multiple possible scenarios why it had such usage:
1. You are reselling the already sold VPSs which aren't actively used.
2. You are reselling the already sold VPSs.
3. You are sharing the VPSs.
4. Your support/billing/sales are using the VPSs which aren't used by the client.
5. You are using the fake/vulnerable to hack/malwared Windows Images.
6. You are using the illegal copies or torrent downloaded copy of Windows.
But this case is not possible: Any leakage of password or anything from my side.
If there was any problem from my side, then it wouldn't just be this VPS. There are hell loads of things apart from VPS I have on my PC.
I use best Internet Security Pack + I don't download the softwares. I don't use cracks, keygen or anything like that.
It's clearly a fault from your side. I have used many small and big companies but never seen such thing.
Thanks.

Another thing found the proof that someone else is using the VPS and they have installed multiple software on it:

Hi. I just need a simple answer to a simple question: In my experience of 15 years of Online Journey and 10 years of webhosting/server experience. I've never seen such instance. I have worked with all those small hosting providers also.
Question: How come anyone else access to my server, uses VPS (Chrome/Firefox), Installs Malware and Software on it?
Answer it here.
Let the internet know how serious you are.
@ Everyone Else: This company is a big no and never buy VPS from them. This company is not safe and stay away from it.

Hello Adidam, if you can provide me a ticket number to look up your account I would be happy to assist you - I'm not sure if you are our direct customer or through a reseller, or your specific case information (that's why I asked for the ticket number so i can better help you). With that said, what unfortunately does happen is that operating systems can be hijacked or hacked by malware, password skimmers catching your password, screen scrapers see it displayed, etc. And worse yet with the volume of zero day exploits sadly even up to date windows templates require you to run the windows updates on your server regularly or possibly run into issues.
I am sorry you have been hit with this situation, but if you can reply with your ticket ill be happy to assist you as best I can directly. I assure you we are not selling your vps to multiple parties, or sharing details - regardless of all the best practices (change pw on first login, force updates, etc) there can be gaps that hackers take advantage on.
Regardless, its always on us as your provider to help you - and I am sorry we fell short here. Please reach out via PM - i will personally make sure we help you as best we can.
Best Regards, Adam█ Colohouse | P: 877-539-4638 | E: hello@colohouse.com

By the sound of it, this is probably your fault.
You are responsible to securing your VPS. If you do not login to a VPS upon delivery and secure it properly, it will probably be hacked via one of the exploits that exist on a Windows server that doesn't get proper updates and security patches.
7. The hosting provider did everything fine and provided you with a VPS that YOU NEED TO SECURE PROPERLY. Yet you didn't.
In my honest opinion based on my many years of experience in the hosting industry, #7 is the most likely scenario here.
If there was any problem from my side, then it wouldn't just be this VPS. There are hell loads of things apart from VPS I have on my PC.
Before you call TurnkeyInternet a "Fraud Scam" and jump to conclusions, you might want to triple check that you did everything right, and it doesn't sound like you did.Maple-Hosting - Netherlands Dedicated Servers

So... let me see if I have this correct.
You never logged in to your VPS, which means you didn't bother to lock it down or keep it up-to-date... and you are now shocked/surprised that someone else is using your server?
That would not be your VPS providers fault, which leaves only one other responsible party..."I've seen spam you people wouldn't believe. Routers on fire off the OCs of AGIS. I watched MXes burning in the dark near the Cyberpromo Gateway. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. TTL=0."

Just my two cents
I too have had a few "Cloud" VPS's with them and every single Windows password sent in my welcome email has been the same. They're obviously using a template in SolusVM.
More than likely a former customer(s) or other bad actor is crawling their IP range(s) looking for RDP accepting the default password.
I found their "Cloud" solution to be underwhelming and unable to meet any of the marketing hype on their website. It's fairly obvious it's an over-subscribed platform targeted to the budget-minded customer.
You get what you pay for - cheap price, cheap service - I've since moved on and would never look back.

How long was the VPS unattended? It could be hacked.

Seems like they are more than willing to fix the issue and offer compensation. Did you let them investigate? What was their conclusion? Was this resolved?
