Asking about reseller hosting shared ip

    Hi,

I've ordered reseller hosting + dedicated ip.
after logged in to the main account cpanel and check on the server information I have "dedicated ip = 123.45.67.89" but on the other hosting accounts that I created from this whm panel all of the ip are shared ip = 123.45.67.88" is that normal?

In other words only the main account have dedicated ip while other accounts are just a shared ip.

    Thank you

    Nothing wrong there.

You can either have dedicated IP for main reseller account e.g your own WHMCS billing system and have your customers accounts hosted on the main shared server IP, or you can use your dedicated IP for the main reseller account and your customers account.

A dedicated IP is not really needed for Web/Reseller these days now that SSL works without a dedicated IP (CentOS 6/7 supports SNI). A provider managing many different subnets/IPs for Web/Reseller can just become a management nightmare, to be honest. Best to use your own server if you want your own IPs, IMO.

A lot of providers mainly used to include dedicated IPs to split Reseller accounts so it was easier to detect which accounts were being attacked like from DDoS. Now that DDoS protection is a lot cheaper and better these days the need for providers to offer dedicated IPs with Web/Reseller accounts is not so common anymore.

Your reseller hosting account can be use a dedicated ip that you bought. But resold accounts can be use server shared ip. This is normal.

That's perfectly normal. You can either choose to leave the dedicated IP for your company domain, or have it shared among your customers
