Speed

I think one key since ive been on here, is the speed of this forum has slowed down.

It is still a great place no doubt, but its just runs slower.

I think maybe something should be done to speed it up

Joe

About the same speed for me. Faster sometimes and slower others.

No speed problems here, and I spend too much time around this place.

I noticed a definite increase in speed when WHT upgraded to vBulliten 2.0. So if anything, WHT is faster.

Re: Speed

Joe,

Can you cough up a traceroute? Your repeated complaints about this, while possibly motivated by the obvious, intrigue me none the less. It loads great from here -- and it is on the fastest network in the world

Cheers,

Raj Dutt

Raj, all I can say is that I browse with DSL (and my new PIII933 computer) and the pages load instantly. No wait what-so-ever on my end. Very nicely served.

Not sure if the problem is location specific.

Well

Nothing against anything i dont think this is on the fastest network in the world. Im in Chicago and it peers with a Above.net OC-48 line. Since one there are bigger backbones then that (OC-192) and two at 180ms thats not the fastest.

Tracing route to webhostingtalk.com [209.249.55.203]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

3 10 ms 10 ms 11 ms fe1-2-core1.chi.tlct.net [216.227.0.129]
4 50 ms 50 ms 50 ms pos8-1-hfr2.den.tlct.net [216.227.126.5]
5 50 ms 50 ms 50 ms ge-v5-hfr1.den.tlct.net [216.227.126.77]
6 110 ms 100 ms 101 ms pos8-1-hfr1.sjc.tlct.net [216.227.126.1]
7 100 ms 100 ms 100 ms pos2-1-paix.pao.tlct.net [216.227.126.210]
8 100 ms 100 ms 100 ms above-telocity-100Mbps.pao.above.net [216.200.12
7.245]
9 100 ms 101 ms 100 ms sjc2-pao1-oc48-2.sjc2.above.net [208.185.175.161
]
10 120 ms 120 ms 121 ms sea1-sjc2-oc48-2.sea1.above.net [208.184.102.178
]
11 180 ms 180 ms 181 ms lga1-sea1-oc48.lga1.above.net [216.200.127.65]
12 180 ms 180 ms 181 ms main1-core1-oc48.lga1.above.net [216.200.127.190
]
13 180 ms 190 ms 191 ms 209.249.55.203.voxel.net [209.249.55.203]

Trace complete.

Joe, you're already at 100ms before you get outside your ISP's network. 80ms for the rest of the trip (from Seattle, it seems) is not unreasonable.

Hmm

Well its interesting, when I peer with my stuff and many others that I test, its very low, but i guess that my ISP has bad peering with Above net or something
