I dont like the way this keeps happening. A lot of large UK firms keep cutting jobs and moving call centres etc out to India.

Fair enough It saves a lot of money, but whatever happened to helping support your own country and economy, sheesh!

Even though outsourcing is good for India and for me ,

I understand the need for small companies to outsource since they are startups etc and are cash strapped , but I really don't understand the need for BIG companies like yahoo to outsource ?

chrisranjana I have the opposite opinion.

The bigger companies do the whole outsourcing thing on a bigger scale and therefore save a LOT more money moving support to india.

The smaller companies keep things inhouse as they cannot benefit from the economies of scale the larger companies do.

Why should a company support a certain country just because that is where it was founded?

Companies exist to conduct business and make a profit, not to give charity to the rest of the country.

What has moving jobs to another country got to do with morals?

As for patriotism, a concept that is devoid of logic has no place in making business decsions. If it did the boss of Glaxo would be moving UK jobs to France as he is French.

No offense to Indians or anyone for that matter, but when I call my ISP, I often have a lot of trouble understanding what the tech support is saying half the time.

It makes both partys uncomfortable as I often have to ask them to repeat themselves and they find it hard to speak more clearly so I can understand.

Usually i have to guess what there trying to tell me (One recent call I thought they were calling us for being a long time customer and were going to give us $5 off our monthly bill for our loyalty, it turned out he was offering a deal if we moved our phone and mobile to them as well, I was way off)

Lately I have been resorting to emails, no mistake there, but there are a lot of things that need phone clearance.

In regard to the poll, never say never, but it's highly unlikely we ever would. As a customer I've generally had a fairly poor experience on the phone with businesses that use 'off shore' support - my ISP being one of them. As I only ring them when something goes wrong, it becomes quite an excercise in frustration at times.
