Hackers Hijack PC's for Sex Sites

The hackers operating the ring direct traffic to each hijacked computer in their network for a few minutes at a time, quickly rotating through a large number. Some are also used to send spam e-mail messages to boost traffic to the sites.

By hiding behind a ring of machines (over a thousand), the senders can cloak their identity while helping to solve one of the biggest problems for purveyors of pornography and spam: getting shut down by Internet service providers who receive complaints about the raunchy material.

...The current version of the ring is not completely anonymous, since the hijacked machines download the pornographic ads from a single Web server.

According to the computer investigators, that machine apparently is owned by Everyones Internet (RackShack), a large independent Internet service company in Houston that also offers Web hosting services to a large number of companies.

That's a tough one for RackShack then. According to your post there's no junk coming from their end of things, but rather RS's server is just being used as source material.

Would be worth sending RS the source of the e-mails so they can figure if they need to take action
Former Webhost... now, just a guy.

    Hello,

Even at that. How can Rackshack spot the exact machine that is doing this? I am not sure about this but would they send techs to go looking inside machine and wouldn't that be breaking their privacy agreement?

    Thank you,

I am sure if there's any wrong doing, the investigators would contact rackshack, and they would remove it.
