Question problem with user nobody running zeus web server

Im having issues running zeus web server as user nobody and group nobody. Zeus will give an error saying it couldn't set the permissions and starts up ok as root.

Im running redhat 7.1 and were running the ftp deamon as user nobody and used to run 6.2 just fine with nobody and haven't a clue why this doesn't work.

Zeus's documentation just says don't run as root and usually as user and group nobody and to make sure they exist which they do.

Just wondering if anybody had a clue what to check for so it will allow it to run as nobody. I figured their must be some of the same issues with running any web server. Is it as simple as nobody not having the rights to read and write in usr/local/zeus ?

    thanks for any info!

    damac,

In order for any process to bind to a port under 1024 (web site hosting is port 80) at least one process needs to be started as root.

Chances are Zeus will spawn processes to handle connections as nobody:nobody
