stargateinc.com reseller API

Anyone using stargateinc.com's new reseller API (registration partner program)? How well does it work? It looks similiar to doster, enom or opensrs.

http://www.stargateinc.com/pages/stargatesrs.htm

I would like to know if anyone is using it before I signup.

Other API that may or may not interest you.

I haven't used that service -- but I noticed you didn't mention registrars.com, which also has an API, and doesn't require a setup fee (although their per-domain rates aren't quite as good). Check 'em out -- http://www.registrars.com/. They're a Verisign company, if that means anything to you. I've used their API, and it's pretty straightforward.

hmm. I am a bulk customer of StarGate's and they know I have been waiting on the new API. They have not notified me at all of it being ready. I think I"ll fire off an Email now...

stargateinc

Hello

I strongly suggest you, do not work with them.

Build your business on a more reliable company. They are very unstable.

Their whois server is always down. You go the rest.

Regards,
Mac

Actually, I am a current customer (100+ domains) of Stargateinc.com and I am very happy. I have tried other registrars and had poor experiences.

I do not believe WHOIS uptime has anything to do with the quality of a registrar. I have seen WHOIS downtime with them all, including some of the largest.

Thanks for everyones input.

We will not refer them to any one. Currently we are their bulk customer and soon will find some one else. They are hopeless.

Some time thier wois doesn't work, sometime you will not able to register a domain name, some time you will register the domain name but will not show in your bulk control panel. On top of that they will not reply to any email with problem.

If your statement was true, Network Solutions and register.com would be the best registrars. Which according to this board is certainly not the case. And I believe if you were to run a search for godaddy.com and stargateinc.com you would find more praise than complaint.

IMO, all registrars will experience problems from time to time. It cannot be an easy task to run a registrar. Otherwise, we would all be ICANN accreditted and selling domains for ourselves, rather than just reselling for them.

Also, I am only interested in whether you have used their new API. I am happy with stargateinc.com.

Aloha

no have not used there interface

Yeah I like the internic thing
heheheheheh
yikes scary thought
I guess I was being sarcastic about the 3 I mentioned

yeah I agree that is why I said I have been lucky so far wiht dotster
I think all are good but dotster has the best easiest interface by a long shot
godaddy has one of the worst (of the 3) and stargate has a lot of control
all have there pros and cons
to me again it is like
having a framing finishing and drywall hammer all our hammers and all do the job they need I use all three and plan to keep using all three
I have been using stargateinc but again a few probs with interface can be anoying as buying domains can be time critical as I am at it every day at 6:30 EST so at least to me time is critical
again if someone is going to be dong this a lot they should use all 3 and make there own choice (or use as many as needed but keep at least 2 in your pool for BU)

Yes
There are serious problems.
These include
  • not allowing updates of name servers based on non gTLD domains even though those name servers are registered with Verisign.

domains appearing to have been registered, but not being registered.

searches showing all .com/net/org domains as taken when obviously some are available.

Having said that, when it works its as good as OpenSRS.
The difficulty is you need another registrar for the long periods when you can't use Stargate.
So we still use OpenSRS as a standby and I think will return there full time now that their rebate program seems to be running again.

They sent me a hooded sweatshirt for selling 1000 domains and Stargate never did that........

Gordon

i have had good service w/ stargate. I never email them, just call them. And I have to say, I have had more trouble w/ register.com's WHOIS being down than stargate's

Did you sell 1000 domains with Stargate? If not, How do you know they would not have sent something when you reached the same milestone?

When I reached a certain sales volume I was sent a nice t-shirt and hat.

Woaaa
I think I have done 550 through stargate.
It would have been more but I still have to use OpenSRS........

Maybe I should hold out for the T-shirt.
