Free Hosting Anti-Virus Software?
1. I have a web site that sometimes gets infected with a virus. I have paid for the service that cleans it but I can't afford to pay for the software to prevent it. Does anyone know if there a hosting service that I can transfer my site to that offers free anti-virus software?
2. Also, thought I would ask this... My site was built in Microsoft FrontPage starting back in 1998 and has grown to be rather large. Anyone know of the best way to convert this to something like WordPress or other?
Thank you.

in regards to number 1, how often is "sometimes"? It seems a bit weird for it to repeat too often if it was properly corrected. And you don't always need software to prevent it, you should find the source and update any scripts and plugins.
Virus Scanners should be pretty standard IMO, I know a lot have plugins installed via WHM but I couldn't recommend any specific host. Take a look around I guess, but I don't see "Anti Virus" to be the main focus of an advertisement.
In regards to number 2, I'm not too familiar with FrontPage but it all depends on your content. If it's a blog with simple html and posts it would be easy to convert, however it really depends on your website.
But saying that, I'm sure there's likely a service you could probably pay for that would convert you from and too anything.

Hi,
1. You should rather look for hosting provider who has active scanners like CXS installed on their servers to give some sort or resistance for uploading these codes directly.
2. Regarding the website conversion, I think its better to get a website developer on a job to re-design it with new CMS available.www.24x7servermanagement.com

Many providers now offer realtime and on demand malware scans for free or otherwise. However, that is not enough to secure your site if you have a vulnerability in your scripts. I am not sure what it could be since it's an old site.

Hi ZipppyDe,
1. I agree with @Srv24x7. Look for a provider that uses CXS. Can you provide us with any more information about the infection?
Also, have you been in touch with your hosting provider re what protection they provide?
2. You can certainly get your current site turned into Wordpress. See http://bit.ly/2dwUsKG for an example of pricing. Prices range from $100 - $250 (US) but because you said your site has become quite large, it may be more expensive as there will be more pages to convert.Zen Hosting

Hello ZipppyDe,
1) There is a cPanel plugin - VirusScanner provided by many web hosting. You can check the features list on hosting plan page or contact sales.
Using virus scanner from cPanel is easy, you can scan complete home directory or any selected folder and if there is any virus found, you can easily fix it.
2) Migrating from Microsoft Frontpage to Wordpress is not difficult but I think you need help of someone who has experience in wordpress. There are few web hosting provider who provide web development service also. You can checkout this feature on their website or contact support or you can hire wordpress freelancer.

Thank you everyone for your great responses. This was my first post on this site and I didn’t think anyone would respond.
Hosting: I do keep the site updated with the latest upgrades. My virus problems started about a year ago, a month after I created a small WordPress site on the same hosting provider. Even though WordPress has been removed, about once every 3-4 months, the $90 virus software finds and deletes a virus but I don’t want to pay the additional $200+(?) that will block viruses. I was told the virus was inserted through WordPress and my brother who manages many WordPress sites had all his infected about the same time using another hosting service. I either need to give this site to another organization or recreate it myself but looking for an affordable way to do this and afford the hosting service. I don’t receive any income from the site.
WordPress: My site is a simple historical text and photo based site but contains thousands of photos and about 1500 pages. Regretfully the search engine no longer works because my hosting service stopped supporting FrontPage extensions.

A WordPress site can be compromised for many reasons - the most common one is not using up to date versions of the plugins/templates/WordPress files. It could also be due to a poorly written script in any plugin/template.
Another thing is, you should never host more than one WordPress site (or any CMS based site) under a single hosting account. It is a security risk. If one of your sites is compromised, then most likely all the sites will be compromised, too. It also reduces performance as server resources that are responsible for performance are allocated on a per cPanel basis and not per domain/website.█||||[ MechanicWeb.com - Shared Hosting | Reseller Hosting | KVM VPS | Dedicated Server ]

Am suspecting the possibility of a backdoor left in your website or in your account. This is something that you need to strongly look into. Rebuilding the site from the scratch is the best thing to do at this point or may be consult with an expect who can definitely remove the problems you have.
