Keep looking. May just go back to HyperV or stick with good ol proxmox.
To be fair they had a very small bit open and tried to crowd fund the rest. Much like the story of the Little Red Hen making bread, no one wanted to fund it, not even the well off hosts, but every single one of those hosts sits and cries about how there's no options on the market.

I put money in, I put money in on all panels looking for startup, it was quite disappointing that it lost its way for so long.

I have been having conversations with the virtkick guys very recently, it seems like the penny might be dropping now and there could be a real way forward for moving from the WHMCS+Solusvm model over to Virtkick, sure its more expensive but it is not 'that' expensive the only down side is no Xen support, but migrating from Xen to KVM really is not that big of a deal when compared with paying for a panel that has had no support or progress since Ditlev bought it.

Well I am sure if their pricing was close to that of Solusvm or virtualizor everyone would jump on it to virtkick I'll wait a bit and see what happens

I don't think the pricing is a huge factor now for virtkick, it is not that far off solusvm now, especially for hosts not running thousands of 32GB E3 servers and using beefy dual E5, 256GB servers instead.

The biggest hurdle for virtkick has always been that they only appeal to brand new hosts, no established host was ever going to move to virtkick because it would mean running 2 panels and 2 billing systems and 2 support systems, essentially they had absolutely no migration path from whmcs/hostbill+solusvm to virtkick so only brand new hosts use virtkick in reality, that is going to change though based on discussions I have had, its going to be an interesting 6 months if they pull it off soon.

From an admin perspective solusvm offers more features than virtkick, but from the end user experience perspective virtkick is first class, and its end users you need to keep happy at the end of the day.

OnApp from an end user perspective is actually a few years behind even solusvm so if virtkick pull their fingers out, they can be the ones collecting the 7 figure revenue instead, it will be a no brainer

They will do a hybrid, they install it on a server for you and manage it, ultimately you retain root access.

    • Virtuozzo (Quite expensive)
    • Virtualizor (Supposedly problematic, I've never used it, just going by complaints on LET)
    • VirtKick (Was costly, seems better priced, only seen a few providers on it)
    • Build their own (Huge time investment and or cost investment)
    • OpenStack (No OpenVZ support, incredibly huge code base to try to expand on your own, huge project to roll things out)
This is not a definitive list, you should have said here are *SOME* of the options providers have. Most notably Open Nebula is missing from this list, and if you are going to have proxmox in the list you should definitely include kimchi.

V2 Beta was supposed to be released 30th November, some minor issues with the installer delayed it, new target date for the V2 Beta is 6th December 2016, this is only for people in the beta program though.

Is that the "Private Branch" in the SolusVM WHMCS control panel?

We're subscribed but we haven't heard anything about these dates 30th November and 6th December for the beta release.

I'd venture to guess that their aim for V2 is roughly the same as Half-Life 3.

    So it's 6th Dec.
Please do share with us if they actually release the V2 beta or you get yet an other day because of some "minor" issue.

We had a target release in November, unfortunately things aren't quite to the point where we are comfortable with the release. Unfortunately I don't have a new target to communicate with you, but I would expect early 2017.

Looks like SolusVM is at the bottom of your (onapp's) priority list.

    V2 is taking ages
V1.9 doesn't fully support CentOS 7 as node OS...
So anyone who wanted to use CentOS 7 as host node is left to wonder around.

Well an OnApp rep confirmed that their 10 biggest hosts/customers are using the BETA now and doing user trials, personally I call BS just like the other 20 odd times they gave us a 'watch this space' or got caught outright telling lies about the status of the development/ carrot dangling, I have been in contact with some fairly big hosts using solusvm, none of them know anything about it.

    Anyone else have any info?

Honestly I think if there was hosts using SolusVM 2 in a public sense at least one of them would be making a public announcement about it to try to draw in users wanting to test it out.
