Poll: What is the largest MySQL database you have?

Heh, just for fun, but also I'd like to know what MySQL is capable of...

What is the size of the largest functional MySQL database you have?

By "functional", I mean, it still runs okay speed-wise, etc..

Are these online or just on your local PC?

Are you referring to a database or a single table? There are lots of multi-gigabyte MySQL databases out there.

You need much larger options in the poll. Any reasonable size forum will hit a few hundred mb rather quick. The only reason most forum databases stay below a gig is they're usually purged frequently to save space or to allow faster offsite backups.

The largest db I manage is on a fairly small gaming site which is purged every few months to keep the db just over a gig.

It depends if the forum is doing some maintenance, like deleting old subjects.

Your poll doesn't even come close to what I'm running.

I have one running at 1.4Gb and another at 1.8Gb

and you know they are still fantastically fast at select statements.

They both have the same data (the ODP database) except one is running standard indexes and the latter is running a fulltext search on one field.

Test it if you like, just go to my site and click on the 'directory' link at the top. That's the 1.4Gb database.
