What is this whole "Harry Potter" thing about anyway? Never read a single book or seen a single movie. I thought it was for little kids or something.

Never read the books though my better half has (she picked up the new one at a midnight opening a few days ago). I've seen both movies though - our three year old has been trying to make the coffee table levitate for over a year now with that magic spell in the first movie
They're aimed at kids, but a lot of adults read them. I'm pretty well on the fence about it all, but it's a good wholesome story with some adventure, and has made a lot of kids who've almost never picked up a book, start to enjoy reading.
And that's always a good thing.Former Webhost... now, just a guy.

If you're a science fiction/fantasy fan, they're up there with the best of the genre, equal to McCaffrey's Pern and Niven's Ringword and even Tolkein.Laura K.

If I am going to read something long-winded I'll read Stephenson, at his detail provides necessary background to the story.
