Can an entire PHP-Nuke site be searched and indexed by Google?
I am interested in using PHP-Nuke, but I am afraid that Google will not be able to crawl and index the site correctly.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
Thank you,
Matt

in the html/includes directory there is a file called meta.php
adjust it to your needs as there are tags what robots will look for

Your results will be better if you make it so the pages appear to be .html as opposed to .php

I can not remembered exactly how it worked when I set it up.
It either already had a readme. And/or:
You have to upload the files over your current ones. They should be in a similar structure to that of phpnuke.

I don't think there is a readme. For earlier versions you just mod a few nuke files--header.php and footer.php (instructions in header.txt and footer.txt) and add the contents of htaccess.txt to your .htaccess file. Haven't looked at Beta 0.65 yet.

That's not true. I have a high traffic site that is entirely made of php files and has a high google ranking and is indexed quite nicely.
The thing Google doesn't like is multiple variables after a URL (like http://myserver.com/forum.php?id=1&thread=50&user=100). You can work around this by using mod_rewrite to make cleaner looking URLs though.

Google doesn't care whether the extension on a file is .html, .php, .cgi, whatever, it's not what prevents a site from getting indexed.

Re: Re: Re: PHP-Nuke & Google
Way to steal nukecop's script. I like how you give them credit for making this script.
I wonder what nukecops would have to say about this.
Tell me one thing that is different between your script and nukecop's ?

Hi folks, I wrote GoogleTap and own http://nukecops.com. I've moved everything into a CVS tree, so you can grab the GT code from http://cvs.nukecops.com. Any problems, let me know.
