I'm curious to find out what people think about these two big players?
Which company has a better Virtual Private Server in your experience? Does one of them stand out in terms of customer service, control panels, uptime, speed or other services?
Right now Interland is about $100 cheaper a month, so I'm a bit cautious as to what might be wrong with their service.

I haven't tried out verio's virtual server service. But when we stopped reselling VServer/HostPro's products years ago, that Interland bought and are now their products, we found that Rhyton who started out as a VServer reseller started offering a similar technology and were more reliable (being hosted at Rack Space).
Although they haven't changed their site in forever, you might consider them over Interland.

Total heresay, but given the amount of customers we, and many others, get from Interland - especially shortly after they buy out another business, I'd tend to look towards Verio's sevice.
note: last Interland refugee we got was only 12 hours ago.

Both have good network infrastructure. You may wish to consider reseller plans in this context if you plan to have multiple accounts.
Verio put out a press release this week surrounding an update to their VPS offerings; if you haven't seen it - it's at:

I have used the Verio VPS since the Iserver days. Uptime, support, features, and general help is great but the prices are high. My only complaint is the control panel for the VPS2 could use some improvements. I actually installed webmin and removed the Verio control panel. $450/month for a 5 gig VPS2 or $245/month if you signup as a reseller and purchase three servers.

One advantage that Verio seems to have is the Real Helix Server ability - Interland only offers Real 7.0 Basic with their $70 plan.
I am looking into this for a company that will host a few sites on the server, so I'm not looking for reseller abilities. This brings up a point, though. Does it ever make sense to set up a reseller account for your own sites? Is it cheaper than getting a virtual private server? Probably not, but an interesting thought.

I must agree that Interland leaves a nice wake of exausted clients looking for support.
Our last Interland server refugee was about 4 hours ago.

Don't know anything about interland, but I'm the sysadmin for a company that has a verio vps for almost two years, and there has never been a problem with the server or the network.
