What's up with Transoptics?

I have a colocated server through Transoptics.com. Actually I signed up through hostmania.net but it seems another company bought that domain. Anyways I've had problems with the server going down (usually the network, once or twice it was the server itself). Last night around 8:30PM or so it went down. Got a response after 3AM this morning saying there was a problem with that IP space and I needed new IP addresses assigned. About an hour or so later I was able to access the server; the main IP had been assigned to eth0:6. Well I get the other virtual ports setup to respond to the correct IP, make sure I can access the server via one of the other IPs, then go in to delete eth0:6 so the IP can be correctly assigned to eth0. Well the server went down again, and hasn't come back up. I have emailed Chavvon Smith multiple times and have tried calling too. All options on their number just route me to his voicemail.

Another five hours, and the server will have been down 24 hours. It wouldn't be so bad, but it's been down for various other reasons before. Are they having a lot of problems? Has it been fine for everyone else except for now when they are having to reassign IP addresses? How has the service been once you got your new IP addresses?

I have been looking at other providers, but it'd be a hassle to switch since I'd need to have the server shipped to me, then I'd ship it back to the new provider, and in the meantime I have to find another server to handle my sites. I'd like to hear that it's a temporary problem and will all be over in a few days, but I'm not too optimistic at this point.

About 10 months ago I had a dedicated server with hostmania/transoptics. It started out good (I caught on to the big promotion that they were doing). However, in the following months, there were serious problems, including problem with server hardware, and the support from hostmania turned out to be non-existant. Their billing was also disorganized too.

Anyway, personally I would advise that you find another provider while you still have the time. It was hell for me to have to gone through one month of dealing with hostmania (during which the server was down for 2/3 of the time), and I hope that won't happen to you.
