    lucasgor88,

Welcome to the club! Unfortunately, there is no "best form of advertisement" because every hosting company has something different to offer that will appeal to a different group of people. Plus, asking in a forum full of web hosting company owners, you probably won't get a whole lot of help on "how to compete with them"! *Please don't take what I said to be rude, it is just the truth*. Of course, once your account has met requirements, you can make ad posts on WHT, and if you accept Bitcoin, you could try some Bitcoin forums. Facebook ads, google adwords, local advertising (my favorite), etc.

If you are brand new, you have some serious work ahead of you. Start with building your audience (via social media platforms) organically by providing unique/relevant content related to the web hosting industry. There are no shortcuts in this industry (or any industry for that matter), just hard work and dedication.

How was this described in your business plan? Do you have a business plan?

Remember, the web hosting business is a business.

I have to disagree with you as there are thousands of shortcuts the only problem is they cost thousands of dollars to set up lol, but seriuosly its called the hard yards and you have to walk them to get your name out there unless you have those thousands of dollars I spoke of to pour into all forms of advertising.

You are in the right place to start here at WHT there are hundreds of would be clients that visit here daily so post away and let the people know what you stand for and what you offer that is different than all others, just remember not to do any self promotion in any forums except the advertising forums.

Advertising a web hosting business can be done in many ways, the key clue though to making some money doing it is to stand out from all other hosts. Try offering something that other hosts cant offer or don't offer currently. They key thing is to stand out from other hosts make people need you for services they can't get anywhere else. Local advertising is where it usually starts visit businesses that are around your local area that can be home or office. Explain to them how your services work and how it can benefit their business in different ways. another good way of advertising is here on WHT as long as you do it right and follow the rules and guidelines.

To advertise here you'll need to get your post count up and the number of days you've been registered. then from there you can advertise in the web hosting offering section other than that you can put a link to your business/website in your forum signature.

    There are many many ways.
You can advertise here on WHT and purchase a sticky or banner.

Local advertising, "knocking on the doors of local businesses".

I think advertising on Google/Bing has been discussed to death at this point.

Google PPC - Only if you can pay a lot per click.
    AdRoll - Yes!
    BuySellAds.com - Yes.
    Blogs, forum posts - Yes
Any free way you can find - Yes
    Word of Mouth - Yes.
Newspaper Classifieds: Yes, if they work out for you, keep using them.
    Free trials: Yes.
    Local exhibitions, libraries, flyers: Yes.

All businesses have unique marketing prospects.

I tried google ppc, tried for two weeks, absolutely no results, seen some traffic but nobody signed for service

I agree with local advertising. The online world is already saturated with hosting companies with huge budgets. As a new hosting company presumably has limited funds, try building a friendly local customer base. Eventually it will escalate to word of mouth and beyond!

This is not a bad list.

We've never used AdRoll or BuySellAds - do you (or anyone in this forum) have any experience with them? Was it a positive one?

If you check the structure of most web hosting companies you will notice some likeness. So your first step could be (main az of marketing) directed to become unique.
Other way is try hard and do your best and soon that will start working фы from lip to lip marketing.
A lot of hard work is involved.

I suggest you start on WHT -- you'll find Google and Bing Ads to be too competitive/expensive for a first time web host (unless you have a lot of money to burn...)

The two most cost effective ways are advertising here on WHT and local marketing. Focus on businesses that have been recently licensed and don't have websites online yet. Good luck with your business.

Don't just advertise in local papers. See if you can get a newspaper reporter to write a story about your business, and then post that story everywhere possible.

You should check out existing marketing threads on this forum as there's been many posts such as this one already.

If you do advertise locally keep in mind your marketing material is going to have to be a lot different than if you're posting an online ad.

Since you're just starting out, start small and work to bigger advertisements. Maintain a blog with several posts per week and be very active on social media (FB, Twitter, Reddit, wherever you have accounts really). It helps to establish something of a base on your own before you start paying for advertisement.
