Choosing the right laptop depends on your needs (CPU, RAM, HDD space etc..), I suggest that you use Dell or Mac book pro if your work is related to Video Editing

If you are low on budget and require a laptop just to surf and make documents then go for Acer 12V (I am using Acer 10 series).
It has a detachable screen so you can use it like a tablet as well. The only downfall is that you'll have to be careful while storing your files since the keyboard dock has 500GB HDD & the screen has got only 64GB SSD

So if you open a file which is located in the keyboard HDD and you detach the screen, it might hang the system.

Picked up one of these things the other day for something light to travel with and was only $110

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA4TX3G42864

It's pretty much a tablet with windows 10 with a keyboard the connects to it via magnets and is pretty cool, my other laptop was made for gaming and has a 18.4 inch screen not really the best for traveling anymore. As for what you are looking for I notice a lot of people using Dell laptops it really comes down for what specs do you want and screen size / resolution.

I bought Lenovo Y50 about two years ago and didn't have any issues with it so far. I use it for many other things besides company work too.

Most of the companies will use IBM (Lenovo) for office work? It is just my impression

If you have no issue with Apple's Products, go with MAC book pro then. It is saving my valuable time and perfect for me.

Actually intended for Games but I like the power for my daily use :-) I got the iMac too for my office :-)

Depends on what you are planning to do though but I am more in love with any laptop that has the power to do anything :-)

I've only seen one person mention the Microsoft Surface, I wonder why?

For me it's a perfect device as I use it on the move and when I'm back in the office, plug in my USB hub and displayport cable then my three monitors come online.

Apple's laptops are known to have good battery life and are sturdy. You could install Windows if you want.

    Mostly seen.

    Dell/HP for normal staff.

    Mac for higher staff.

Designers using custom workstations due higher needs in graphics and CPU, Ram

Personally I used Lenovo (IBM) and I will stick with it for many years to come. Reason : it's reliable and fast support.

Dell support also good, but the spare parts (after warranty period) was too high (I used to own Dell 3 years back).
HP? I don't like HP and stopped using it many years ago.

Absolutely correct. I have been using Microsoft as well but MAC did satisfy me with its speed. Time saving for my business.

In my previous job we used Lenovo x1 series. I gues its up to personal preferences. Almost every brand has low and high end laptops.
