Hi,

I'm soon launching my webhosting site and I was wondering what is the best merchant provider to go with for credit card processing?
http://www.webpaymentsolutions.com http://www.datatransfer.com http://www.charge.com

or any others?

Thanks
-Jeremy Foster

ProPay sounded good to me. only downside is that you enter info manually and it gets billed under your name, not a company name. oh yea..fees are charged too, not too much.

Not good unless you want your customer to have to enter their cc numbers *every* month. You need somthing with automatic monthly billing. This type of service wouldn't work.

Question

I'm also looking for a way to process credit cards monthly, automatically. Does anyone know of any good merchant accounts that has this feature?

Jeremy,

Have you tried applying directly to your bank for a merchant account? My company found it much more efficient and less restricting than an online service.

At first when we started out we used ibill (http://www.ibill.com) but after a while came to the conclusion that they were not competant enough to manage accurate and consistent rebilling of cards so we decided to ditch them and applied to our bank for an IMA (Internet Merchant Account). You may have to put down a deposit because you have a net business (it was only about $1200 for us) but it should be worth it in the long run.

If you expect to get thousands of customers then it is a good idea to use it in association with some quick-to-administrate billing software that supports recurring payments.

Dont do charge.com, they seem to only be selling a program run by Leasecomm. You lease the Authorizenet.com service thru Leasecomm and have to deal with Creditcards.com for the $$ transfer. You're dealing with 3 parties and it can be a headache at times.

We used Safe Solutions to set up billing through Authorize.Net. Monthly batch billing is easy for recurring charges and miscellaneous single charges are easy too.
