I'm beginning to look into hosting services. I hear a lot of great stuff about alabanza. How much does it cost to actually get a server from them rather than get it from a reseller of alabanza. Also, getting hosting from any reseller of alabanza would be the same no matter who you host with no? Afterall, they all offer the same features, speed and support of alabanza. I see so many resellers of alabanza (you can tell from their control panel) and dont know which to choose. They all seem the same to me.

Please help!

Also, is there another alternative to going "alabanza"?

As far as resellers go - not all the plans you find from Alabanza-based hosts are the same, as everyone has their own discount structure, even though many of the functions will be identical (such as adding new domains).

Alabanza is among the higher-end places to lease a server, cost wise, usually running $400-550/month for the first year, and then $800+/month after that.

Other places to look for dedicated servers (in no particular order):
dialtoneinternet
tera-byte
rackspace
catalog

I'm sure someone will come along and name a few others.

wow! 400+ a month to lease a server? I guess i'll go with a alabanza reseller then. most of the reseller plans are usually the same. I don't really want to spend more than $40 a month for service. I am hosted with nomonthly.com now and they are expensive. not to mention the support is bad. i'll have to go looking elsewhere.

Like I said, they are on the higher end. I think tera-byte offers lower cost servers ($99? BC - help us out here). And of course other places give low and midrange pricing as well. I just wouldn't imagine that a decent server could be found much cheaper than about $100/month.

I don't have that kind of funds right now. I would have to go find a alabanza reseller i suppose. I do like their network. I can get upto 1mbs on the network.

Haner, not all hosts with Alabanza are the same. Besides differences in packages (as Annette already mentioned), you can expect that service may vary. A reseller gets the support from the host, not Alabanza directly. Like any other industry, there are good companies and bad. Be sure to look for recommendations and email or talk to whomever you consider before you sign up. And read the terms of service.

Eddie, I thought that tera-byte's $500 deposit was for RaQ only? (At least that's how it was about a month and a half ago.)

Anyhow, catalog does not charge setup fees on linux boxen. I think they start out in the mid $200's.

Plus, forgot to add Olm to that list. I think theirs start under $200, and they have also gotten great reviews - especially from people who left after the ***** meltdown back in December.
