Royalty free photo's and images

Admins: I really don't have a clue where to post this question. Feel free to move it somewhere else.

Hello All,

As a beginning designer I would like to know where you all (designers) buy your photographs/images (or download them for free). I already discovered Istockphoto.com, it is a terrific resource but limited in some ways.

Please let me know. Or do you all walk around with digital camera's?

Please note: I am looking for LEGAL resources I am not interested in resources where international copyright laws are violated.

As far as free stock photos go, this is a pretty comprehensive list: http://www.sitepointforums.com/showt...threadid=55129

And as for paid images, corbis.com has amazing quality, though a bit pricey (sometimes ~$500 for a one-year license to a photo)

A camera, if you have a knack for photography, can be the most cost effective and overall satisfying way to go, though

Thank you all for your contributions.
I must say that I kind a got scared regarding the prices for some of these services.

I really like Istockphoto.com ... great quality for only half a dollar but they do have a lack in images regarding corporate designs like hosting companies. I did find some reasonable services, the only disadvantage is that you pay per week, month or year (what if I only need one picture). Other services where you can pay per image are relatively quite expensive.

Well, just have to sell some templates really fast

The guy is from hemera...the globe was added to the graphic by the artist in the first two. The third one look original.

Just a little check, when I take a subscription, I only pay the subscription, don't I? I don't have to pay per picture? I am talking about Hemera here.

If you're a designer, you can learn to use 3DSMax or Maya and create your unique 3D images that's your legal properties.
