which ASP with linux?

I've been looking at the different types of ASP for linux and would like to know what you guys think about them? and of course if you have any experience using one

I found chilisoft, iASP and apache::asp , which one is the "best" and most compatible with the m$ product?

chilisoft is the best but for true ASP you would need Windows Server

The alternative is iASP (instantASP) but it's slightly more expensive than chilisoft and java based...

apache::asp is free but it only supports a perl version of asp which doesn't include vbscript or several other asp components so 1 of the other 2 would be preferred. There should be a compatibility matrix on their sites that may help.

I would say Chilli ASP is more prominent in the market...

ASP for linux is ridiculous.

First of all, if you want to provide it so you can say "We provide PHP and ASP" then don't spend the money and use apache::asp for free.

Second, if you do provide it on linux, I doubt many people will use it. People who use ASP are most likely developers therefore they know that windows is the best enviorment to develop ASP in.

The only people who will really use Linux ASP are clients who run simple scripts such as forms, guestbooks in which case simple ASP scripts will only use functions in apache::asp.

You can't use vbscript or jscript with apache::asp (you've got to use Perl).

You can create full-blown database-driven applications with either Chilisoft or iASP. Naturally, they have some restrictions (and absences). With iASP some of those absences are filled in with supplementary programs.

Multi-million dollar companies whose IT systems are based on Unix are happy to invest a few thousand $$ in programs that enable them making use of ASP without having to convert to NT.

I think i will use chilisoft, but customers have to pay a little bit extra for it (a lot of webhosting companies do this in the netherlands) and I will get one license, most of my customers will use php, perl or jsp instead of asp

ASP on linux is a little crazy...
If you want to be able to offer it without spending a fortune get yourself an old RAQ4 and you can then load Chillisoft ASP without paying any license fees.
